Conference Press Release

8 March 2002

barnet

Barnet striker Neil Midgley could be back in the squad for the Nationwide Conference clash against Morecambe at Underhill. Midgley missed the 2-0 win at Hayes, boss Peter Shreeves’ first game in charge, with a hamstring injury. Ben Strevens (thigh) is also doubtful while youngster Leon Bell could start.

boston united

Striker Simon Weatherstone is a major injury concern for Boston United ahead of their Conference clash against bottom-of-the-table Dover at York Street. Midfielder Paul Ellender completes the last of his three-game ban but James Gould returns having missed the Dagenham game through suspension.

chester city

Chester City manager Mark Wright will throw Chris Tate into his second game in five days against Stalybridge Celtic. Tate arrived at the Deva Stadium earlier this week on a month’s loan from Leyton Orient. Phil Bolland has also signed from Oxford United per-manently for a small fee.

dagenham & redbridge

Dagenham & Redbridge manager Garr y Hill has no fresh injury concerns as his side look to extend their six-point lead at the top of the Conference against Hereford. Hill has released leg-break victim Tim Cole on a month’s loan to Billericay Town in an effort to get the player more match practice.

doncaster rovers

Doncaster have failed in their attempt to sign Southampton goalkeeper Danny Trueman as cover ahead of the Nationwide Conference visit of Telford. First choice Andy Warrington sustained a knee injury and was replaced by Lee Butler at Nuneaton last Saturday. Jamie Patterson (shoulder) and James Price (elbow) are doubtful.

dover athletic

Dover forwards Matt Carruthers and Leon Kelly will miss the Nationwide Conference encounter against Boston at York Street through suspension. Boss Neville Southall will again monitor the fitness of Lee Shearer (ankle ligaments) while Scott Ramsey is available again after suspension.

farnborough town

Farnborough manager Graham Westley must decide whether to reshuffle his side once again for the visit of high-flying Yeovil. Westley made four changes to his team in midweek, with Chris Piper, Mark Harper, Tim O’Shea and Christian Lee all recalled to the starting line-up.

forest green rovers

Forest Green manager Nigel Spink will have a full-strength squad to select from for the visit of struggling Hayes. Striker Chris Freestone could make his home debut after coming on as a late substitute in the win at Woking. Defender Steve Jenkins is also in contention after recovering from a knock.

hayes

Hayes boss Terry Brown will welcome back three key players for his side’s trip to Forest Green. Mark Molesley, Bertrand Bossu and Jon Ashton have all completed one-match suspensions, while former Huddersfield and Mansfield striker Phil Stant could also make his debut for the Missioners.

hereford united

Hereford will be aiming to end Dagenham’s unbeaten away record when they face the Conference leaders at Edgar Street. Player-coach Phil Robinson is fit again after a calf problem and played 45 minutes for the reserves in midweek. But striker Paul Parr y and goalkeeper Matt Baker (both ankle) are doubts.

leigh rmi

Leigh boss Steve Waywell has three players missing for the game against Nuneaton because of injury. Midfielder Dave Ridings has a hamstring strain, while striker Dino Maamria is struggling with a groin problem. Gerr y Harrison (calf) is also absent. Waywell expects to bring back Steve Thompson and Jamie Udall.

margate

Margate boss Chris Kinnear has a number of injury problems, with Woking the visitors to Hartsdown Park. Simon Beard (foot) is very doubtful, Phil Collins is struggling with an ankle injury while Lee Williams (hamstring) is also a doubt. However, defender Paul Lamb (ankle) is a possible inclusion.

morecambe

Morecambe will again be without top scorer Robbie Talbot when they travel to face Barnet at Underhill. The 15-goal striker, who netted the only goal in the reverse fixture against the Bees at Christie Park in September, has been sidelined all year with dam-aged knee ligaments.

northwich victoria

Northwich boss Jimmy Quinn has just one injury doubt as he prepares to welcome Southport to Drill Field. Midfielder Mark Devlin is struggling with a knee injury that required stitches this week. Quinn said: “It’ll be a tough game because they’re doing well, so it’ll come down to who has that little bit of luck on the day.”

nuneaton borough

Nuneaton manager Steve Burr is waiting on the fitness of two of his players as he prepares for the trip to Leigh. Defender Barr y Williams is struggling with a hamstring problem, while striker Maurice Harkin has gone down with tonsilitis and is rated as doubt-ful. Borough have not won in the Conference since January 5.

scarborough

Steve Baker is back in the Scarborough squad after fears that he had fractured his jaw proved unfounded, but United will be with-out Markus Jones who has a knee injury. Manager Russell Slade said: “It’s imperative we get maximum points from all of our remaining home games, or we could find ourselves in trouble.”

southport

Southport boss Phil Wilson expects to have a fully fit squad for the trip to Cheshire to face Northwich Victoria. Wilson’s side have lost just one of their last 12 Conference games and he is hoping they will extend that run at Drill Field. He said: “We want to have a good finish to the season.”

stalybridge celtic

Stalybridge are desperate for a win against Chester after losing their last three games. Paul Futcher’s men are dropping rapidly towards the bottom of the table with four points separating them from Dover, and Chester just two places ahead of them. Nigerian striker Sammy Ayorinde (hamstring) is doubtful.

stevenage borough

Stevenage’s new manager Wayne Turner has made his first signing and hopes to build on the win in his first game in charge. Winger Scott Houghton, 30, was snapped up from Halifax Town and may feature against Scarborough. But he will be without strik-er Martin Williams (suspended) and defender John Dreyer (calf).

telford united

Telford manager Jake King has doubts over defender Lee Fowler (bug) and striker Steve Palmer (calf) ahead of the tricky trip to Doncaster. Midfielder Gary Fitzpatrick played against Hereford on Tuesday night and sustained a recurrence of a foot injury, but he is expected to play.

woking

Woking manager Geoff Chapple expects to take a fully fit squad with him to the Kent coast to face Margate. The Conference new-comers have slipped a little after their excellent start to the season but Chapple said: “Margate is going to be tough. They’re a very good side and I’ve been very impressed with them this year.”

yeovil town

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson has positive news on the injury front ahead of the trip to Farnborough. Midfielder Lee Johnson has shown no ill-effects from the 85 minutes he played against Canvey Island in midweek, whilst Colin Pluck and Olivier Brassart are available for selection following injuries.
