Conference blocks Stevenage's Plan to go Interactive

Plans for Stevenage Borough supporters to decide on substitutions during the course of a match by using mobile phones have had to be scrapped after a board meeting of the Nationwide Conference ruled that the idea was "unethical".

But television viewers will still be allowed to vote on the composition of the team as part of a docu-soap on the club, which Channel 4 will broadcast over the next two months. A select group of fans will help the manager Paul Fairclough nominate three players whose places are in jeopardy and three possible replacements. Viewers will then vote on which lucky trio play.

Steve Wignall Leaves Doncaster

The following announcement was made by the board of directors of Doncaster Rovers FC on Thursday 10th January.

"The board of directors of Doncaster Rovers FC regret to announce the termination of the contracts of Chief Executive Joe Hoggins and Team Manager Steve Wignall with immediate effect due to severe financial constraints. The board wish to express their appreciation and thanks to both of them for their efforts and wish them both every success in the future."

"Derisory" blast from Shaw!

Telford United's young chairman Andy Shaw has fired a broadside at Chester City and issued a chilly "hands-off" warning to the relegation threatened former league club, just days after their chairman Steven Vaughan appointed former England international Mark Wright to the management hot seat at The Deva Stadium.

Chester who last month failed to land Telford's skipper Neil Moore & striker Jake Edwards have failed again in trying to lure defenders Jim Bentley & Mark Albrighton, plus midfielder Gary Fitzpatrick to join the Cestrian's relegation battle. The Bucks chairman instantly rejected a bid believed to be £10.000 for ex Manchester City player Bentley, subsequently thwarting moves to capture Albrighton and Fitzpatrick.
