Steve Brinkman's Testimonial Match
It was pleasing to see a good turn out for
Steve Brinkmans testimonial match at Dunstable F.C. It
was was also good to see some of our old players, such as
Nicky 'God' Evans, Kevin Millett, Bill Baldrey, Peter
Brown, John Margerison, Andy Lomas, Eddie Stein and Glyn
Greaser playing again.
Bill was well chuffed to know that ' Five
- Bill Baldrey' is still often chanted around Underhill!
He says the best days of his playing career were spent
playing for Barnet and still has a soft spot for the
Bees.
Tony Hadley, Gary Beadle (Paul - the
doctor's brother in Eastenders) and Terry Marsh were
amongst the celebrities who played. Peter Marinello,
Steve Gatting, Steve Williams and John Radford appeared
for the Arsenal team.
It was a very entertaining afternoon, with
Steve's son George kicking-off the first of three
half-hour matches, also coming on at the end of the last
one to score a goal.
Steve was well liked locally and his many
friends showed their commitment on an enjoyable
afternoon. His wife Barbara and their children will have
been very pleased at seeing such a crowd and we all went
home with our own memories of 'Brinky'.
