Arson Attack on Girls Club House

The following has been copied word for word from the Official Site. Given the circumstances I am sure everyone will want to dig deep at the Stalybridge match.

The former club of Barnet favourites Ben Strevens and Phil Gridlet, and now home to our female junior section, was subject to a burglary and arson attack in the early hours of Friday 18th January.

Princes Park Youth Football Club, located in Cool Oak Lane Hendon, was subjected to an estimated £100,000 worth of damage as the fire destroyed the club house and the surrounding changing areas.

The club, which has over 188 boys and girls regularly training and playing, with ages ranging from three to sixteen, is now trying to raise the necessary funds to help secure their future.

The fire is a massive blow to the recently established Barnet Princes Park Girls FC which was formed at the start of the season when Barnet FC were seeking a new home for their girls team. Until recently they were producing some excellent results with the under 11's currently un-defeated, including a recent eleven-nil victory. The under 13's were also going strongly with only one defeat so far this season.

The club, with the help of the league, are continuing to fulfil all fixtures and hope to have temporary changing facilities within weeks. Currently the generosity of parents and coaches has raised a staggering £1750. This, along with any further donations, will be used to buy new kits and equipment destroyed in the fire. If you wish to make a donation, or you would like to play for Barnet Princes Park, please contact secretary Bob Smith (telephone number 07905 280 492).

Princes Park Youth Club are a registered charity and there will be a collection at Underhill at the Stalybridge Celtic home fixture on 9 February.

Please give generously to this deserving cause. The BFCSA will be dontating £50.
