Eric Herbert RIP

The BFCSA Committee is deeply saddened to report the passing of our President Eric Herbert on Monday 9th February 2009.

Eric was admitted to Barnet General on Christmas Eve suffering from bronchial pneumonia.

Eric was a supporter of our football club for over 60 years; his first game was in 1948. He joined the Supporters Association in 1965 and served as an active member until 1990. He had three spells as Secretary, even Chairing AGMs if called upon. He was briefly the Barnet Football Club Secretary in 1974. In 1996 he accepted the invitation by the Supporters Committee to become Association President, a position that he held until his passing.

Eric and his wife Sheila were regulars at Underhill and on away trips on the coach. Eric was real gentleman and an extremely knowledgeable fellow with a genuine love for Barnet FC. We have lost a supporter in the truest sense of the word.

The Funeral is to be held at New Southgate Crematorium on Wednesday 25th February at 12 Noon.

The family is happy for flowers at the service or alternatively respectfully suggest a donation to MIND (The National Association for Mental Health). Please direct your gifts care of the Funeral Directors:
