Fundraising

01 February 2008

Last week the BFCSA were pleased to take to Barnet's Cherry Lodge Cancer Care a Cheque for £162.50 which had been raised at December's Quiz evening held in the Durham Suite.

At the request of Dave Stokes' family, money raised was donated to a local cancer charity.

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care, based in High Barnet is a charity committed to improving the quality of care for for those living with cancer, their carers and families. Cherry Lodge, work in partnership with hospital and community healthcare services that provide orthodox treatments. They offer additional support and help which people living with cancer so badly need.

Dave, who sadly passed away in November, was a committee member for many years, organising the away travel being one of the less enviable tasks. He was also our chairman, secretary and treasurer at various points.

The BFCSA will be continuing to raise money for local charities with our social events, and are pleased to announce that £322.50 was raised in January when 'or Wot', featuring well known Bees fan Tony 'Reckless' Hammond, played the Durham suite. This money will be donated to Noah's Ark children's hospice.

The end of February will see a further Social Event run by the BFCSA, with the Annual Music Quiz on Saturday 23rd February following our Home tie to MK Dons. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Local Schools football.

Also coming up in March is the first Barnet FC International Day when the Bees entertain Wrexham, look out for further details on all of these events and the Player of the Year celebrations in the BFCSA programme notes and on www.bfcsa.co.uk.
