Loving Barnet

My name is Ezequiel Suranyi. I am an artist who work on football as a core subject of inspiration.

Over the past three years I have been producing work about this truly special club, Barnet FC. I began this in collaboration with Japanese artist Takeshi Nomura, producing work during the Conference Champions night versus Carlisle.

Nomura is back in Japan, but I've remained in London, following the Bees, creating wonderful imagery about a club that made me realize how truly simple it is to support a big club. I went to Old Trafford in October, and produced the "Theatre of Shattered Dreams" series.

On April 8, after the game against Notts County, I will be exhibiting "LovingBarnet" at Underhill, in the club house. The artwork is mostly made up of framed photography, video screening, and some painting.

My goal, as an artist, is that every Barnet fan that comes to Underhill that afternoon, stays for a little while, and comes by to see the work, and have a beer? Chances are they will find themselves within it.

Or check out the latest issue of FourFourTwo magazine (April 06), which features a double spread on my work, entitled "Fans, Food & Football".
