HAIRCUT 1000

Congratulations to Steve Percy for achieving another remarkable feat at the Exeter match on Saturday 22nd January 2005.

Unbelievably this was Steve's 1000th consecutive home Barnet first team fixture, a run that started way back in 1968!

Steve had started coming to Underhill the previous year, but really got into it in a big way the following season and has only missed one away fixture in all that time.

That was at Enfield in the 70's with the match being postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Unfortunately for Steve they played it later, even though the temperature had not increased!

Steve has not only followed the first team religiously, he followed the reserves around as well. He even managed to cadge a lift from Tony Kleanthous to Bristol a couple of seasons ago to catch a last minute arranged fixture.

For most of this time Steve has been accompanied by his wife Ann, who has also notched up an enviable amount of fixtures.

Steve was a long running member of the BFCSA committee and also the Chairman for a couple of decades before standing down over a season ago.

Along with Ann they still run the BFCSA coach travel, an unenviable task, but one they carry out with expert precision.

Last season Steve won the 'place in the squad' raffle and wore his number 40 shirt with pride when he came on against Ware in the Herts Senior Cup. We interviewed Steve for this site after that game.

The photo above shows Steve standing below the Barnet clock at the Westcombe Drive turnstiles, ones he has been through a few times! He's even worked behind one back in the old days.
