| Match Preview | |||
And it's back to league action after both sides' escapades in the FA Trophy on the weekend. Barnet beat Dover 3-2 at Underhill whereas the Daggers took 210 minutes to overcome Crawley, having drawn 0-0 at the Glyn Hopkin Stadium, they met again the following Tuesday with the score being 1-1 over 90 minutes but they managed to scrape an extra time win. Their reward is a visit from Arlesey whereas Barnet face a trip to Forest Green Rovers for their efforts. Last time out in the league, Dagenham produced a huge shock having beaten Shrewsbury 5-0 at home. Barnet took a hugely valuable three points on their travels at Halifax. League positions would still tell you that a Barnet victory would be on the cards but when teams can pull results out of the nowhere as they did against the Shrews, anything can happen. Barnet will be looking to improve on the recent lacklustre period over Christmas and hopefully the second half performance against Dover will kick our season back into shape. The win over Halifax was huge, you could see how much it meant to both players and the 127 fans that travelled up to The Shay. Of course, you cannot expect brilliant performances every game, but the Christmas period did raise some concerns within the supporters and hopefully, a win over Daggers should put worries at rest. Previous
trips to Dagenham haven't yielded much happiness (5-1,
5-2 defeats and a cancelled match on New years having
arrived at the ground) and we all hope that they can't
bring their excellent home form against us to Underhill
on Saturday! |

| We all expected
Dagenham to be there or thereabouts at the start of the
season and even when they started poorly, people
still believed that they would be able to turn it around
and push for the playoffs or even automatic promotion.
Not the case, Dagenham have become the season's
underachievers, with no shadow of a doubt. Players left, fans drifted away and there is a certain amount of discontentment around The Glyn Hopkin Stadium right now. The Garry Hill racism allegations came and went, just one of a number of problems that Dagenham have faced. Perhaps a Trophy run will provide them with a useful tonic. Their top scorer is Mark Bentley who has a tally of six (two coming against ourselves) and he is closely followed by recent signing from Northwood, Chris Moore and Mark Stein, who departed soon after the race allegations against Garry Hill. Considering how long ago that was, it tells you something about the Daggers' season. Attendances have also
dipped drastically too thanks to their problems on the
pitch. Although that said, the average is at a
respectable level of 1,469 even with recent attendances
dropping to below 1,200. Hopefully though, a sizeable
crowd will travel from East London on Saturday to swell
the Underhill crowd. |

| BFCSA Prediction | ||
| Barnet will predictably put out a
weaker line up and with Dover on such form it should be a
good tie. I don't want a draw, we don't need a draw, but
that result stares us in the face. Barnet 3-1 Dagenham &
Redbridge, Att:: 1,935 |
