Can we win a third game in a row? Can be do what we didn't manage to do last season? I should think so. The team has really responded well to the Dagenham game and picked up 7 out of 9 last week against Hereford, Burton and Halifax. Each game was very entertaining and most importantly an excellent performance each time. Without trying to sound arrogant, we did expect to do quite well with the squad we have and now it is beginning to come together. The real test of how good we are will be in a few weeks when we play Stevenage (a), Aldershot (h) and Shrewsbury (a) in the space of two weeks. Then we'll be able to see how we do against the best in the league. Accrington have made a good if unspectacular start but they will be happy with it as they have been widely tipped to return to the Unibond. Away from home Accrington have only picked up a single point whereas the Bees have picked up seven at home so if you go by the formbook, Accy will go home with nothing, but of course, you never know in this division. Lutel James would seem to be the player to look out for with him being influential in Accy's promotion season which included 9 goals in his first 9 league games, shades of Grazioli! Talking of Grazioli, he is going through a purple patch, eight in his first six, seven in the last four, the guy has been proven at this level with Stevenage and has made himself right back at home here. You would bet against him to add to his tally on Saturday though because he is injured. Even so, he is certainly a good bet for top scorer this season. We'll just have to wait and see.......... |

| Accrington Stanley emulated
Burton by breezing their way through the Unibond League
to make it into the Conference for the first time. Of
course, Accrington is a famous name in non-league circles
having had their record expunged in 1962. They started
again and 41 years later they are one step away from
getting back to where they came from. It's been a mixed start for Stanley but they will be pretty happy with their 7 point total from 6 games. It could have been 9 points for Accy however had Gary Setchell not netted in the very last minute for Tamworth on Saturday. The fanbase certainly seems to be there at home with an average of 2,388 over three games (none under 2,000) but seem to be lacking on their away travels so we'll probably see no more than about 100 at Underhill. The amount of support that the team has received at home games has come as a surprise to me but can only be a good thing for the newboys. |

| Just like last week I think that
all the signs point to a home win and three points would
be very nice going into the Stevenage game next week and
ensure a huge following there. Accy have some talented,
experienced players but I doubt it will be enough for
them Barnet 2-0 Accrington Stanley, Att:: 1421 [Back to Top] Homepage > 0304 > Fixtures > Back To Top |
