Programme Notes

Dover, 10 January 2004

Good afternoon and welcome to the BFCSA page.

WARM WELCOME TO DOVER

It's good to see Dover back here at Underhill and a warm welcome goes out to everyone connected with the club.

Well, today's game is a break from the gruelling league schedule and I for one am looking forward to good cup run. I still remember going to Wembley as a young lad in the early 70's only to see the bees go down 3-0 to Stafford Rangers. It would be great to go one better this time out!

GET WELL DAVID DAWSON

By now you will have heard of the terrible mugging on Barnet fan, David Dawson.

Some better news is that John Adkins (also known as Village) arranged a collection for David at the Halifax game on Saturday 10 January.

John would firstly like to thank the secretary at Halifax who gave permission at short notice to do the collection at the game.

The BFCSA-coach travellers (whom David is normally one of) donated £80 on the way to the game and John collected a further £70 at the game.

On returning from Halifax a small party of people - including John, Ann Percy, Ken Springett and Trevor Cotterell - visited David where he is recovering at home, and passed the £150 to him.

Apparently David was in fine spirits - no doubt lifted by our 2-1 victory that afternoon - and is looking forward to coming back to watch the mighty Bees. Unfortunately his injuries are such that he is unsure when he can see his next game.

If you were not at the Halifax game but wish to donate something to David then we kindly ask you to send a cheque (no matter how small), payable to David Dawson, to the following address:

John Adkins
BFCSA Membership Secretary
9B Princes Avenue
Muswell Hill
LONDON
N10 3LS

Please note that it was not possible to arrange a collection today as there is a collection due at next week's game. This collection is for a charity that has helped another Barnet fan and the club do not like to have collections too close together as it can reduce the amounts collected. This collection has already been put off once before.

The BFCSA committee understands and accepts the club's position and urges our members to give equally generously to the collection at the Dagenham match.

COACH TRAVEL - THANKS

I'd just like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Steve and Ann for all the hard work they have put in over many seasons organizing the coaches for Barnet fans to easily get to away games.

It was with some incredulity then, when I read on the clubs website message board, that a very small minority were knocking the service. Fortunately the majority and more astute 'keyboard warriors' were thankful for the service. Thanks Steve and Ann, please keep it up.
