Programme Notes Halifax Town, 30 August 2003 Good afternoon and welcome to the BFCSA page. Last Saturday saw another solid all-round performance from the lads against early pace-setters Hereford United. The team seemed to be giving 100%, with the likes of Ian Hendon giving even more! What a cracking goal, it's good to see a set piece coming up with the goods and hopefully there's more like that to come! I wasn't too sure about their penalty decision, but that's football and a 1-1 draw seemed a fair result. I'd also like to say what a great atmosphere there was in the ground. I'm sure that spurred the players on to get the equaliser, so more of the same today please. On to Monday and the game up at Burton. Again I couldn't make it but sat at home watching Sky Sports. With about six minutes remaining and three up against ten men I was feeling pretty relaxed, and confident that we'd beaten them 3-0 again. Then two quick goals from Burton saw a rather worrying few minutes until the final score rolled past on the screen. I don't know what's worse, being at the game watching it happen or sitting at home not having a clue what's going on. I know where I'd rather have been though! Today's game sees Halifax Town grace the hallowed slope of Underhill and I'd like to welcome everyone concerned with the club. With two wins, two draws and one defeat, the same as the Bees, we both have eight points. On Monday night we were seventh and eighth, with Halifax just in front on goal difference. Graham Turner, the Hereford manager, said Underhill was a tough place to come to, so with only one goal conceded in the first two games, the team looking rock solid and the fans giving it their all, let's make this Fortress Underhill. Bring it on! BARNET MUSEUM Don't forget to go along to the exhibition at Barnet Museum. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get there yet (don't you find work gets in the way of everything!), but I've heard very good reports. Committee members Janet Matthewson and Henry Strevens (among others) put a lot of work into it, so please make the effort, get up to 31 Wood Street, Barnet and see for yourselves. Don't forget to fill in the questionnaire!! DURHAM SUITE Why not pop into the club bar either before or after the match - or both! It seemed busier after the Hereford game last week, so I hope people are realising that money spent in there goes to the club and increases our turnover, which all counts towards the new Conference rules on how much can then be spent on players wages etc. So, if you're feeling thirsty and fancy a chat with fellow fans, get down to the bar - you know it makes sense. WEBSITE John has been away for the last week so there haven't been any updates, but it's still full of interesting information. Halifax fans might want to have a look at the A-Z feature, which lists all out previous encounters back to 1965 when the club turned professional. There is also an old programmes section so you can top-up your collection. |
