Programme Notes Telford United, 09 August 2003 Good afternoon and a warm welcome to all Barnet and Telford fans for the first game of the 2003-04 season. Phil, who usually writes these notes, is away on his holidays at the time of writing so he asked me to write these notes instead. I watched Barnet give a convincing display against Peterborough United last Saturday in the baking sunshine. It was disappointing to concede a goal in the last few minutes after Williams' superb first half goal, but at the end of the day it was only a friendly. Today it starts for real so this is where my welcome to Telford ends as I hope they make the long trip home with nothing to show for their troubles. If you're reading this on the way back to Shropshire then why not console yourself by visiting our website when you get home on www.bfcsa.net and ordering our back catalogue of Barnet v Telford programmes? We have nearly twenty different programmes for sale going back to when we were in the Southern League together in the 1969-70 season - and they're all £1.00 or under! And if Barnet fans want to find something to occupy themselves with until our next game then you should get yourself along to Barnet Museum where they have just opened a History of Barnet FC exhibition! The museum is open Tuesday to Thursday, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm and on Saturdays between 2:00pm to 4:00 pm. You will find the museum next to the registry office in Wood Street, High Barnet. We have two away games on the trot coming up, against Farnborough and Dagenham & Redbridge. The BFCSA are running coaches to all away games as usual this season, thanks to Steve and Ann Percy. You can get a list from the supporters hut after the game (in the front garden of the house next to the Westcombe Drive turnstiles). You can also find the complete list on our website. To book a place on the coach simply phone (01707) 647365 and leave your name on the machine. Listen carefully to the time the coach is leaving in case of last minute changes. Alternatively, visit the aforementioned hut after the game where you will also be able to get your name down early for some of the more popular trips. We meet for the coach outside the Queens Arms pub - inside during opening hours. Don't forget you need to be a member of the BFCSA to travel on the coach, but if you're not already then you can simply join on the day. It is only £3.00 for standard annual membership. |
