  The Season So Far

What can you say about the the situation at Farnborough? I personally find it unbelievable that Graham Westley (Chairman/Manager) can leave mid-season and then manage another club, especially as the other club (Stevenage) had just beaten Farnborough 5-0. The powers that be in the Conference seem to think it's okay though, even slapping a transfer embargo on Farnborough for non-payments to Jim Rodwell, who won a league tribunal after Graham Westley had sacked him!

It will be a very different Farnborough side that the Bees face on Saturday than the one we lost 1-2 to way back in September.

Last Saturday saw 'the Boro' win their first game under Ian McDonald, a 2-0 victory against Halifax in the FA Trophy.

On Tuesday night Farnborough drew 0-0 with Donacster at home so this Saturday's game doesn't look quite as easy as I previously thought. Saying that though I think we'll just nick it.

I really hope the 'boro' can salavge something from this situation, but obviously after Saturday.

It was the 'Day Of The Jekyll' for Barnet last time out at home to Scarborough. A convincing 3-0 win against another team struggling with off-field problems sees the Bees rise to ninth in the league.

We should beat Farnborough, so book your place on the coach and get on down to Cherrywood Road, sing your heart out and be deafened by the drum with the newly acquired skin I bought on Tuesday.

Phil's Prediction
Farnborough 0 Barnet 1

History

Farnborough Played their first game in the Surrey Senior League in 1968. They stayed in this league for four seasons playing at the Queens Road Recreation Ground.

They then moved to the Spartan League, winning it for the next four years.

IIn the mid-seventies they moved to Cherrywood Road and in 1976/77 they won the Athenian League Division 2. The next season they joined the Isthmian League and won Division 2 in 78/79.

Between 27th August 1973 and 23rd April 1977 Farnborough didn't lose a single game at home, a total of 87 on the trot.

After six seasons in Division one of the Isthmian they finally won the league and promotion to the Premier Division.

In 1989/90 they joined the Conference after finishing runners up the previous season to Leytonstone & Ilford, who's ground wasn't up to standard. They only lasted a season and went down to the Southern League, bouncing straight up again. 1991/92 saw the Boro finish 5th, their highest ever placing. Another year on and it's relegation time once more.

At the end of the 92/93 season Ted Pearce, the Manager for 23 years, stood down. His replacement was his assistant Alan Taylor and in his first year took them to the Championship and back to the Conference, this time for five years.

In 1998/99 problems on and off the pitch and with several Manager changes sees them drop down a lleague again. This time it's to the Isthmiam, but two seasons ago sees them again as Champions and take their place in the Conference, ending their first season in 7th place.

in the last month Graham Westley has departed to Stevenage and taken most of the squad with him.
