Barnet meekly surrendered to a Daggers side still basking in the glory of their FA Cup exploits at Norwich.

Barnet were without the influential John Doolan (suspended) for Tuesday's visit to Victoria Road. They brought in Craig Pope at right-back, leaving Lee Pluck to fill Doolan's place in midfield. Frazer Toms came in for weekend goalscorer Danny Brown, also in midfield.

As early as the 8th minute, the Bees found themselves on the backfoot as Junior McDougald slotted home coolly after the visiting defence failed to clear a cross.

This set the tone for the evening as Barnet were twice undone by their inability to defend at free-kicks.

After 37 minutes, Danny Shipp fired home through a leaking Barnet defensive wall to put Daggers 2-0 ahead.

With Barnet struggling to find any form, manager Peter Shreeves withdrew Pope and brought on Wayne Purser, returning from injury, as an attacking option.

A minute later, another free-kick, wide out on the right was allowed to skid across the face of the Barnet goal and rebound off the far post for Steve West to tap in.

Barnet were relieved to hear the referee's whistle after their abysmal first-half performance in which they failed to seriously test Daggers keeper Tony "Cry Baby" Roberts once.

Second Half

The Bees started the second half with more conviction with Neil Midgley and Purser both registering shots on target, while Roberts was injured scrambling to cover an effort from Junior Agogo, which hit the side netting.

But it was not to last as the evergreen Mark Stein scored the first of his two second-half goals when he caught the Barnet defence flat-footed after 55 minutes.

This was the signal for Roberts to limp off and be replaced by substitute keeper Paul Gothard, whose first serious action was to pick the ball out of the net as the ever-willing Agogo scored his first goal since returning from injury after dummying two defenders.

However, Barnet's woe was compounded when Stein popped up to complete a drubbing for the sad Bees.

On a cold and miserable, the only high spot for the visitors was their army of loyal fans, whose continuous singing and chanting put the Daggers fans (and their band) to shame.

The less said about the display on the pitch, the better!
