Boss Peter Shreeves has signed a new deal which will keep him at Underhill next season. The former Sheffield Wednesday manager’s contract was due to end last Saturday but he has been granted a one-year extension and aims to return the Bees to League football next season.

Boston United opened their York Street ground on Monday evening for the people of Boston to see the team return with the Nationwide Conference Trophy. A special programme about Boston United was screened on BBC2 this week, entitled “The Pilgrims’ Progress”.

Chester City have secured the Nationwide Team Performance of the Month award for April. Mark Wright’s side received the prize for their 5-1 thrashing of Stevenage Borough at the Deva Stadium on April 20, their penultimate game of the season, in which Stuart Whittaker netted a superb hat-trick.

Garry Hill has been named the Nationwide Conference’s manager of the month for April despite seeing his side lose out to Boston in the title race. The Daggers finished the season with a 3-0 win over Chester but it was not enough for them to secure promotion to the Football League as they finished second on goal difference.

doncaster rovers

Doncaster have released six players but offered new contracts to five others. Jimmy Kelly, Ben Futcher, Jamie Squires, Neil Campbell, Mark Sale and Matty Cauldwell have been allowed to leave but Jamie Paterson, Tim Ryan, Kevin McIntyre, Ricky Ravenhill and Stuart Nelson have been offered new deals.

Dover shareholders must begin the task of appointing a new board as they prepare for life in the Dr Martens League. The resignations of Jim Pellatt, Jim Gleeson and Roger Knight has added to the uncertainty at the club, who finished four points adrift at the bottom of the Conference this season.

farnborough town

Midfielder Lenny Piper scored on his landmark 100th first team appearance for Farnborough. Piper’s strike in the 3-0 win against Leigh was his 44th for the club. The 24-year-old started his career at Wimbledon before moving to Gillingham. He then signed for St Albans City before finally arriving at Boro.

forest green rovers

Simon Futcher has been rewarded for his impressive form this season with a new one-year contract with Forest Green Rovers. The youngster, who plays on the left side of midfield, has impressed Rovers manager Nigel Spink after joining last summer from Hellenic League outfit Swindon Supermarine.

Willy Wordsworth has been appointed Hayes manager on a full-time basis despite failing to save the club from relegation. “I’m really pleased,” he said. “It has been non-stop work this week because we are already planning for the future. I have been in contact with five players who I would like to sign.”

hereford united

Chairman Graham Turner and director Joan Fennessy have delayed their decisions to resign for a week. The pair are willing to stand down from their positions in a bid to ease the cash-strapped Edgar Street club’s financial problems but have withheld their resignations pending a meeting next week.

Gerry Harrison and Ged Kielty have both signed new two-year contracts and Leigh manager Steve Waywell is hoping that others will follow their example. But Waywell has admitted that he expects striker Michael Twiss, who has attracted the interest of a number of clubs, to leave Hilton Park.

Manager Chris Kinnear praised pacy striker Leon Braithwaite for his double strike in the 8-0 win against Stalybridge. Braithwaite, who signed for the club on a free transfer from Welling two years ago, only came on as a second-half substitute, but took his tally for the season to 16.

Manager Jim Harvey has outlined his intention to bring in some fresh faces despite admitting to being pleased with their sixth-place finish. He said: “It was a magnificent effort and I’m delighted. But we will be looking to strengthen our squad in the summer. ”

Jimmy Quinn has blamed injuries and suspensions at crucial stages of the season for his side’s failure to finish in the top eight of the Conference table. The Vics boss is not too disappointed after finishing 13th but admitted that Danny Ingram and Mark Devlin “have both been badly missed”.

nuneaton borough

Boss Steve Burr is hoping to bring a new striker in during the summer to inspire a sustained push for promotion. Burr hoped to bring a forward in from another Conference club before the transfer deadline but was restricted by financial constraints. His target is still available however and Burr is confident of getting his man in the close season.

scarborough

David Pounder, Steve Baker, Karl Rose, Mark Hotte, Paul Shepherd, Scott Jordan, Gareth Stoker, Shaun Rennison, Jason Blunt and David Henderson have all been awarded new one-year contracts. Manager Russell Slade has also given month-to-month deals to Richard Tracey and Danny Brunton.

Phil Wilson has admitted he can’t put his finger on where the season went wrong for his team, but is trying to bring in new faces for next term. After a promising start Southport finished in the bottom half of the table but Wilson is talking to a number of players and is confident he will be able to inject some new blood in the summer.

Chairman Peter Dennerly insists the club should not be embarrassed after dropping out of the Conference. “Relegation is a cr ying shame for every one of us, but there is nothing to be ashamed about,” he said. “We can finish this season with our heads held high and look forward to a bright future.”

stevenage borough

Wayne Turner’s preparations for next weekend’s FA Trophy Final clash with Yeovil have been boosted by a visit from Spurs Director of Football David Pleat, who he played for at Luton. After the impressive semi-final win over Morecambe, Turner is desperate to end the season with some silverware.

Transfer activity has started early at Telford after centre-back Mark Albrighton left the club to sign a three-year deal with Doncaster. His departure could start a flurry of moves in and out of the Bucks Head. The talented defender cost £15,000 when he joined the club in August 1999 from Atherstone.

Manager Geoff Chapple claims his team are capable of a title bid next season if they tighten up defensively. The Cardinals avoided relegation only on the last day of this campaign, but Chapple said: “We’re conceding goals. If we can kick that habit, we can start challenging for honours.”

yeovil town

Midfielder Lee Johnson is looking forward to an electric atmosphere when the club face Stevenage in the FA Trophy final at Villa Park on May 12. The 20-year-old played at the same venue for Watford in a youth cup semi-final against Aston Villa, and he is confident the club can secure the prize.
