Programme Notes

Doncaster Rovers, 4 January 2003

Good afternoon and welcome to the BFCSA page.

I'm actually writing this on December 19th because of printing deadlines and Kevin (the illustrious programme editor) wanting some time off to spend with the family over Christmas! So I apologise it's not as up to date as usual but I hope you had a good time on New Year's eve and are fully recovered and in good voice for this afternoons encounter with Doncaster.

There isn't a 'Meet the Committee' section today, I thought you'd need a rest after Steve Percy's epic he wrote in the Dagenham programme. I asked him to 'jot down a few lines about your time at Barnet FC' and he came back with something nearly as long as 'War & Peace'! Kev told me he had to reduce the size of the print to fit it all on the page and he would hand out reading glasses to anyone who needed them! Anyway, when you've been to as many games as Steve has you must have a lot of memories and I hope you found it interesting.

FOREST GREEN ROVERS

Following on from the last programme a few more details have been arranged for some pre-match entertainment. Anyone who's interested is welcome to come along to Stroud Leisure Centre at around 11.30 am for a game of football against Forest Green Rovers fans. This will be played outdoors (crikey- hope it's not cold) on an Astroturf pitch about the size of a hockey pitch. This will last for about an hour then its off to the ground for a few 'quick half's' and some food which is being laid on (not sure what or the cost as yet).

A quick note to the real Barnet FC team, if you get time why not come along and get your own back and show the fans what it's like to be insulted every time you miss the ball!!

Hopefully we'll be able to get a team together, so if you are interested you can e-mail me at psnow@bfcsa.net or contact Bill Cresswell or myself at the game today. We stand in front of the tea hut on the East Terrace.

More details will be posted on the Supporters Club Website at www.bfcsa.net.

If you don't want to go to the supporters game you can go straight to the ground at about 1 o'clock and you will be made most welcome. They really are a friendly bunch and you'd have to go along way to meet better people.

The coach for the above will be leaving at around 9.00am although the exact time and cost have not been worked out at the time of writing. You can find out today by going to the Supporters Kiosk (in the front garden of the house next to the Westcombe Drive turnstiles) or by phoning the answer phone on 01707 647365. Details also on www.bfcsa.net.

It would be great for as many Barnet fans to get along to this game as possible. Remember it could be our last chance for glory this season and a good run in the Trophy is definitely what the club needs at the moment to get away from all the 'doom and gloom' surrounding the ground.

So come on down to the Cotswolds, maybe have a kick about, maybe have a few drinks with some fellow fans or just come to the game, but remember the last two games there finished 2-2 and 4-4. There should be plenty of goals!

BFCSA MEMBERSHIP

If you're not a member of the Supporters Association already why not join today? It's only £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for concessions.

One of the benefits is that you are not only insured to travel on the coach but also at any game played under FA rules.

Also, if there are more members in the association it will look better at any planing meetings that may come up in the next few months. I remember this was one of the questions asked at the Town Hall when the planning permission was (originally) granted.

So come on and join up. You know it makes sense.

COACH TRAVEL

If you haven't been on the coach before I can thoroughly recommend it. Why go to all the hassle of driving to an away game, trying to find the ground and somewhere to park, when you can sit in luxury on a coach with free tea and coffee, not to mention a toilet!

If this sounds appealing why not make the Forest Green game your first and join us for what promises to be a great day out.

You will have to be a member of the BFCSA but you can join on the day.
