Programme Notes

Forest Green, 23 November

Good afternoon and welcome to the BFCSA page.

A WARM WELCOME TO FOREST GREEN ROVERS

I personally would like to welcome all you Rovers fans that have made the journey up today. I hope you enjoy yourselves as much as I have down at 'The Lawn' the last couple of seasons. My elder brother Dave lives nearby in Kings Stanley, so my younger brother John and I have an annual pilgrimage to the Cotswolds and have had a great reception each time.

When 'The Bees' were in the 3rd Division it was the Cheltenham game that took us down there, but I've got to admit we both prefer it at Forest Green.

I'm not the only Barnet fan with a Cotswold connection. Bill Cresswell, who stores and sells old Barnet programmes, would like to wish the Forest Green Supporters Club Chairman Andy Whiting, his family and friends a warm welcome. Also Bills son Aden would like to thank Jack Russell - the former England wicket keeper - for his autograph earlier this season in the stand at 'The Lawn'.

Lets hope for a game as exciting as the 4-4 draw back in October, but from a personal point of view it must be our turn to win!

MEET THE COMMITTEE

Name Bill Cresswell
Age Over 21 [Well I'm a middle aged man who should know better]
First time saw Barnet Late 60's v Hereford in the old Southern League
How many games per season All homes and as many aways as I can. I did every single game home and away including reserves and youth during the 92/3 season but now it's a lot harder to get away from work.
Time on BFCSA committee 8 years
Where do you stand at Underhill East Terrace
Favourite current player Lee Harrison, a fine club servant
Favourite all time player Its got to be Gary Bull, it was his goalscoring exploits that got us into the Football League
Best goal ever Gary Bull v Doncaster 91/2 season
Favourite ground visited White Hart Lane when Spurs were a force to be reckoned with.

I first regularly started following the Bees in the mid eighties. This was after my footballing career came to an abrupt end due to a serious knee injury.

After a couple of years into our Football League spell I was asked if I would like to join the supporters club committee and the rest, so they say - is history.

I'm the one who has all the programmes that were once housed in the old supporters club shop, something like forty thousand of them and that's not including my own personal collection. My better half Lesley has to put up with all the clutter in the house. I forget the number of times shes threatened to have a big bonfire!

Most of the programmes in my possession can be found on the supporter's club website. These range from the 1960's 'til the present day. When you get a moment take a look. With the trusty help of my son Aden I hope to update these lists to include more aways and a section of older programmes from the 40's and 50's.

If any person out there wishes to donate any programmes to the Supporters Association just see me or any other committee member

Best wishes to you all for the remainder of the season, Bill Cresswell.
