Programme Notes

Leigh RMI, 16 November

Good afternoon and welcome to the BFCSA page.

SUPPORTERS AND POLITICS

I don't really like to bring up politics and I also wouldn't like to swear in this column, so forgive me for using the C word!

A set of Barnet supporters, who in the past voted Conservative and now feel betrayed by the Party, have formed a group and want like-minded people to join them. They want to show the Tory Council that it's not only the near neighbours of Barnet F.C. they should be looking after, but also supporters who have put them in the position they are in now. MEET THE COMMITTEE

Name David Davis
Age 57
First time saw Barnet 1986
How many games per season All home and 8 away
Time on BFCSA committee 2 years
Where do you stand at Underhill Under my favourite hat on the North Terrace
Favourite current player Wayne Purser, he has great pace
Favourite all time player Kenny Lowe, he had the best knees I have ever seen
Best goal ever The last minute equaliser by Sean Devine in the away Cup game against Farnborough. I got so excited a lens fell out of my spectacles
Favourite ground visited Stamford Bridge as we really gave Chelsea a scare in the Cup game.

I began to follow Barnet with my youngest son who likes soccer and Underhill was and still is a great place to bring children to get the atmosphere of a live game in safety. Please will our Councillors make a note of this!

My next door neighbour also brought his son but the boys both stopped coming as they found our language and behaviour embarrassing. My neighbour still comes and you can find us both on the North Terrace giving a warm and friendly greeting to visiting goalies. We normally wear a pair of distinguished and rare Barnet hats that were bought by our wives as Christmas presents and as you can see from the photo, they must really care.

I have been on the committee for about two years so I am still a new boy. I used to be involved in the original Keep Barnet Alive campaign and I still have the "T-shirt". I hoped I could hang it up but sadly I now have to wear it again! I am still active in trying to get our Council to listen to reason.

For my sins I was asked to take on the role of Secretary to the committee earlier this year which means I get all the rotten jobs of letter writing and minute taking and being abused by Steve (only kidding, as we love you really).

The committee is here to help the fans and the Club so if you are a member, thanks, if not, please join!

QUIZ TEAM

On Sunday 3rd November the quiz team were in action in the Home Counties Football Quiz league Division 1, with the following result:

Barnet 56 Manchester City 31

Team: Steve Percy (Captain), John Erroll, Alex Jones, David Bown, Peter Croft, and Paul Reisman.

Paul Reisman made his league debut, Two wins out of two puts us top of the league, but theses are very early days.
