FANS FOOTBALL MATCH

11th January 11.30am, Leisure Centre, Stroud

Updated 10/01/03

As you are doubtless aware by now the FA Trophy game against Forest Green has been postponed due to the weather.

Obviously this means the fans match has had to be cancelled as well. A lot of work has gone into arranging this match - by both sets of fans - and we are disappointed by this turn of events.

I know from some of the emails we have received that some of you were very much looking forward to this game and will be just as upset.

One or two people asked if the game would still be going ahead in the event of a postponement. I have literally just come off the phone to Steve Percy who has confirmed that there will be no coach run tomorrow.

I apoologise to anyone who may have been holding out hope that there was any possibilty of it going ahead.

I suppose that if people want to make their own way down there I am sure the FGR fans would probably still be happy to play you! I do not have any contact details for them, however, so I can only suggest trying to contact them through their messageboard. You can get to it via this link but it goes into an old thread that you will need to come out of.

Once again, I apologise for this, but it is obviously way out of our control. In light of how many people wanted to take part I am sure we will try to arrange something similar soon.

John Snow, Website Editor.

We have a kit!!

Janet (KBA) will be collecting the kit from the TA centre in Barnet on Friday - assuming the match hasn't been called off. It is shirts only so you will need to provide your own socks and shorts (unless you were planning on wearing tracksuit bottoms!!)

This kit was donated by the club to the TA centre for their team, so a big thank you for its loan.

Below are a few more questions...

I emailed you to say that I was interested but haven't had a reply.

As mentioned below, Phil's computer crashed. It is now working again (having had windows reloaded) but it is understandably not quite as it was. As we're neither of us very technical it may take a while to get things sorted.

That said, Phil has been able to pick up quite a few emails that were sent over the last few days but is having problems replying. For some reason he can email me so he is forwarding them to me and I shall reply. In the meantime please email info@bfcsa.net if you are interested or have any queries.

Are there changing and shower facilities at the leisure centre?

Yes, there are.

Is there a referee?

The FGR fans have even arranged a ref. No abusing him - it's only fun!

What about the kit?

Still not positive about that - Phil was looking into this but has been crying in front of his computer.

How many people will be able to play?

As many as we get - there will be unlimited subs. Eleven at a time, obviously ;-)

These questions and answers sound like that Yes Car Credit advert with the chick in the green dungarees.

My kids are always watching Cartoon Network. (Yes...)

Below are a few questions that you may be asking yourself about this match.

Email?

If you have emailed Phil in the last couple of days then Phil may not have received your email - his computer has crashed!! Therefore any further emails should be sent to info@bfcsa.net.

Please re-send any emails that were sent to psnow@bfcsa.net if you have not yet had a reply.

Where is the Leisure Centre?

If you are not going on the coach you will want to know where the leisure centre is.

This is the address:

Stratford Park Leisure Centre
Stratford Road
STROUD
GL5 4AF

And you can see a map here.

I don't wanna watch some bloody idiots kicking a ball about...

For those who are not interested in seeing the game but intend on getting the coach, it will take passengers into Stroud after dropping people off at the leisure centre and arrange to pick them up again. Stroud is a nice town with good pubs and other places to eat.

Be warned that you could be missing out on the 'match of the day'!

Is there going to be a kit supplied?

I think so - Phil is onto this. Should be definite news about this on Wednesday evening.

I want a link to the Forest Green messageboard thread about this match

Ok, here it is... Link to the FGR board about this match.

I want to see that story about Brian Coleman again

Oh go on then ;-)

Original Details About the Match

A friendly football match has been organised between Forest Green Rovers supporters and Barnet supporters before the FA Trophy game.

It will be played on an Astroturf pitch (outside I'm afraid!) and is open to all.

It would be great if we can get a team together for this so come on and lets see if all the talk on the terrace can be put into action on the pitch! (That rules me out then!!).

Afterwards everyone has been invited for drinks and food at the Forest Green Clubhouse at around 1.00pm. You can go straight there if you don't want to play or watch the above game.

The Forest Green supporters are probably the friendliest you will ever meet, so it would be great if we can show them what a good bunch we are.

As the Trophy is probably Barnet FC's last chance of glory this season we must all make the effort to get down to the Cotswolds and get behind the Lads.

Not all the details are finalised yet, but I will keep you posted. If you are interested in playing please let me know at info@bfcsa.net.

Please note this invitation is only to members of either supporters association, but you can easily join on the day for only £2.00 (see here for more information about joining).

The coach details have now been finalised. It is £13 and leaves at 09:00. See the coach page for more information.

Thanks, Phil
